Eastenders bosses have launched an official investigation after two major storyline were leaked to the national press.
The story of Pauline Fowlers death hit the press two months before the show aired as did the fact that it was husband Joe Macer who killed her.
Executive producer Diederick Santer told the Daily Star: “Our viewers enjoy titbits and pictures of upcoming storylines. But to have a storyline told in a newspaper four or five months in advance before it airs on screen is very disappointing for them and undermines the surprise element that is so important to their enjoyment.”
A show source added: “Everyone is absolutely furious about this because it spoils it for everyone. There is a lengthy internal investigation which they hope will uncover who is behind the leaks.”
