EastEnders: Jacqueline Jossa on her newbie nerves, and Ricky Norwood on Fatboy’s love life

Jacqueline Jossa, who of course plays Lauren Branning in EastEnders, and who picked up an award at the recent NTAs, has revealed that she was almost overwhelmed with nerves when she first joined the cast.

Speaking to the PA at the awards, she said, “When I first started I got really scared and worked up thinking everyone’s going to hate me.

“[The Brannings] have been there four years and then I’m coming in to be their daughter, it was a bit surreal.

“And then two weeks later I felt completely comfortable, everyone was cracking jokes and I thought ‘Oh… I built it up a bit!’”

And of scooping the award for Best Newcomer, Jacqueline said, “The competition was amazing. Chelsea Halfpenny [from Emmerdale], I’ve met her, she’s lovely and as a viewer I wouldn’t have known who to vote for…

“I’m happy, but she deserved it too.”

Also while attending the awards, Jacqueline’s co-star Ricky Norwood, who plays Fatboy Chubb, revealed that he hopes his character can find real love.

As fans will know, Fatboy is currently dating Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) but she’s secretly in love with Tyler Moon (Tony Discipline).

He told What’s On TV, “It’d be lovely if a girl came along and was there for him.

“Fatboy’s the one who will always run to someone’s rescue, so it’d be nice for someone to run to his rescue one day.”

Awww I agree Ricky! Fatboy’s so lovely, he totally deserves someone who loves him back.
