Eastenders is bringing in its first gay character for what feels like decades! The man in question will be the brother of Jane Beale, and John Partridge who plays the character has assured us that he won’t be playing the man as a raging queen!
John, 36, told The Daily Star: “I’m not trying to be the new Antony Cotton.”
“He’s a fantastic actor and does what he does extremely well. It would be stupid to come in and copy the character he has made so successful.”
“I have to pinch myself,” he added.
“It’s about time EastEnders had a gay character in the show. It’s been a while and things have moved on a lot.
“Christian, like me, is an openly proud gay man and he is certainly going to ruffle a few feathers when he arrives.
“I just want to make sure I do this character justice, that’s all I care about.”
