Life for Jay Mitchell (Jamie Borthwick) is really only just settling down into a relatively normal pattern since the horrific murder of Heather Trott…

He has of course struggled with his conscience over the fact that he was there when she died, having witnessed nutcase Ben Mitchell (Joshua Pascoe) smack her on the head with a photo frame.

But next week, that frame is going to come back to haunt Jay when he finds it hidden under Ben’s bed.

As you may recall, at the time of the murder, Ben’s dad Phil (Steve McFadden) told him to weight down the frame and chuck it in the canal, but for whatever reason, he didn’t and stashed it at home instead…

But neither Jay nor Phil were aware that he was hanging on to the gruesome keepsake, and when Jay discovers it, all those awful memories come flooding back. Jay makes the horrible find when stashing the money Phil paid him out of the proceeds from the sale of the stock car he and Ben did up.

At first, Jay just tries to avoid Ben, but when Ben turns up at the garage, Jay can’t help himself and demands to know why he kept the vital piece of evidence.

Ben stutters a few impromptu excuses, but Jay’s heard enough, and seems sure now that he has to go to the police…

But will he really risk the wrath of Phil by turning his son in? And of course, Jay was there that night too, and has since obstructed the course of justice with his silence over the murder, so if he dobs Ben in, he’ll land himself in it too.
