EastEnders: Lauren Branning hits the bottle again! It’ll all end in tears at Christmas! (VIDEO)

by Lynn Connolly

Fans of EastEnders will know that Joey and Lauren Branning’s love affair has been brought to an abrupt halt by the interference of Joey’s scheming dad Derek, who’s set to be killed off over Christmas.

In case you’ve missed the show so far this week, after Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Joey (David Witts) were in a car crash, and after Derek (Jamie Foreman) discovered Lauren had been driving after she’d been drinking, he told Joey that he must ditch Lauren…

He threatened that if Joey doesn’t do exactly what he, Derek, wants from now on, he’ll tell the police that Lauren was in fact behind the wheel and not Joey.

So left with no choice, given that he truly loves Lauren and couldn’t bear to see her in trouble with the police, Joey did indeed tell her things between them were over, but as we’ll see next week, Lauren just can’t cope with everything…

And somewhat inevitably, she returns to boozing, and when her sister Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) confronts her over her drinking, Lauren breaks down and sobs, but given that she and Joey are cousins, she doesn’t tell Abi what she’s so upset about.

However, as teasers for December’s episodes reveal, by the time we see the installment that airs on the 12st, Lauren’s spending most of her time drunk, and while sozzled, she’s set to reveal a family secret…

Here’s what the BBC says of the episode…

With her feelings bottled up for too long, Lauren goes back to her old ways and, out of control, she lets out a huge secret which has major consequences for the entire family.

So is that ‘secret’ her affair with Joey or something else?! Well, we’ll find out nearer the time, but before that, in Thursday’s episode, we’ll see a frantic Lauren trying to make sense of what’s going on with Joey…
