Eastenders actress Maggie O’Neill has called her character Suzy Branning ’scheming.’

Maggie told the TV Times: “Suzy’s driven by money and uses sex as a tool to get it. She’s wanton and a schemer… She doesn’t seem to have much empathy or sensitivity for other people.

“She’s probably a match for anyone! She’s not embarrassed by her own behaviour, and she’s quite deluded.”

Suzy has recently started dating Walford bad boy, Phil Mitchell.

Maggie said: “I think they have a connection because they probably both recognise something in each other. She’s a tough cookie and sees the world from a male perspective.”

The 41-year-old actress also admitted working in a soap is hard work.

She said: “I have never been in a soap, and EastEnders is quite a big one! It can be quite overwhelming and takes a while to get used to it.”

But despite the effort, Maggie loves being a Branning on the show: “It’s a great family. Suzy’s very close to Max and Jack; particularly Max. But I’m sure she’s not averse to using those two as well as anyone else!”
