Eastenders Margaret Tyzack joining cast

79 year old veteran actress, Margraret Tyzack, who received a CBE in July 2010, is set to join the cast of Eastenders in April, as Janine Malloy’s (Charlie Brooks) Grandmother, BBC News reported today.

Tyzack is Best known for her classical stage roles, and has won numerous awards for her stage work including two Oliviers and a Tony.

Tyzack said she was “delighted to be joining a great British tradition and a fine company of actors”.

She will join the show as the snobbish Lydia, who is reunited with Janine, whom she has not seen for years.

Eastenders’ executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said it was “a coup” to have her on the show. and Margaret was “an actress of incredible class and talent” whose character had “endless possibilities”.
