EastEnders: Newbie Gary Lucy’s character Danny will be gay and he’ll ruffle Christian and Syed’s feathers!

Fans of EastEnders may recall that a few weeks ago, we reported that former Footballers’ Wives star Gary Lucy – who’s also starred on The Bill and Hollyoaks – is joining the cast of the show as city banker, Danny Pennant.

And in today’s TV Biz, it’s been revealed that Danny will be gay, and that he’s set to cause some strife in the relationship between Christian Clarke and Syed Masood.

A show insider told the paper, “All the girls think he’s a real ladies’ man.

“But they’re soon disappointed when it turns out he’s not interested in women.

“He’ll ruffle a few feathers and Christian and Syed’s relationship will be tested…”

When the news of Gary’s casting was announced back in August, his character was described as being “mischievous”, a “charmer” and someone who “oozes sex appeal”.

An EastEnders statement read, “With his irresistible charm and luring persona, Danny is desired and envied by both men and women.

“Girls want to be seen with him and boys want to be him.

“He will inevitably create controversial encounters and his provocative and lustful nature is bound to land him in trouble.”

We’ll meet Danny for the first time in September, but for now, here’s a reminder of a few of Gary’s finer points during his time on Hollyoaks
