Eastenders postie, Nitin Ganatra, has made a 10,000 mile round trip in order to be there for the birth of his son this week.

Nitin is currently in Mumbai, filming for ITV sitcom Mumbai Calling with Kumars At No42, however when he got the news that his wife Meera was in labour he flew back to the UK and just made it in time for the birth.

A friend told The Sun last night: “He had requested all along permission to try and fly back in time for the birth and thankfully he made it.

“ITV were fantastic in helping him. He’s ecstatic everything went well.

“He’ll be back next month to continue on EastEnders and get to know his new child.”
