News from Walford way today includes Pam St Clement revealing the real reason why she decided to leave EastEnders and her role as Pat Evans, and also that Laila Morse – who of course plays Big Mo Harris – is taking time off to get into training to star in Dancing on Ice.
But starting with 69 year old Pam, she told the Daily Mirror, “As an actor I am a great believer in leaving the stage while they still want more.
“My greatest fear is that you will bore the audience. And once that thought has popped into your head you then have to go through with the practicalities of it.”
Pam, who’s a staunch advocate for, and supporter of, animal rights issues, and who originally wanted to be a vet, went on to say that she’d now like to try making wildlife programmes…
She said, “I would like to get back into that saddle because that’s where my heart is, with animals.”
On now to the news that Laila Morse – who is the older sister of Hollywood legend Gary Oldman – is taking time off from EastEnders in order to get into training so she can be at her best to star in this year’s Dancing on Ice.
At 66, Laila will be the oldest of the stars who are taking part in this year’s show, and she recently revealed that her family think she’s “mad” for taking on such a rigorous and physical challenge.
However, Laila told the PA, “I can’t wait for all of it – the sparkles, false eyelashes and tans. It’s like being pampered.
“We’ll be skating out each Sunday looking like we’ve been Tangoed.”
Among the other celebrities taking part in this year’s show, which will be hosted by Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley, are Dallas actress Charlene Tilton, actor Corey Feldman, Sugababe singer Heidi Range and ‘80s pop idol Chesney Hawkes.
Also expected to star this year are diet and fitness guru Rosemary Conley, children’s TV presenters Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes, Merseyside actress Jennifer Ellison, TV presenter Andy Akinwolere, Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden, Hollyoaks actress Jorgie Porter, and Coronation Street’s Andy Whyment.
You can see all the stars making their debut on Dancing on Ice when it returns to ITV on Sunday, 8 January, 6:30PM – 8:30PM.
