EastEnders: Phil Mitchell thinks Jack Branning is his stalker! Plus Jamie Foreman’s “proud” to be on the show

Our first look at EastEnders news today is that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) becomes convinced that Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) is his mystery stalker when he gets a sinister tape in the post…

As we saw in last night’s episode, Shirley (Linda Henry) confronted Rainie (Tanya Franks) believing her to be the stalker, but Rainie denied having anything to do with Phil’s torment…

However, when Phil receives a note that reads, “I know”, and then a text message that says, “I know you killed Kevin“, it begins to look like the stalker isn’t after revenge for the death of the man in the car lot all those years ago.

It seems they just want to make Phil suffer for his previous wrongdoings. And if that’s the case, they have a lot of them to choose from!

But as Phil knows that Jack has a copy of a tape that captured him admitting to selling Kevin Wicks (Phil Daniels) a cut-and-shut car – in which Kevin subsequently died – he immediately assumes Jack’s behind the latest notes and messages.

Phil and Shirley storm over to Jack’s to confront him, however, Jack denies all knowledge of any messages, and goes to look for the incriminating tape to hand over to Phil…

But it’s gone. Dun dun dun!

So Phil and Shirley are still in the dark as to who’s behind it all. Could it be Jack – who would of course deny it was him – or is it Rainie?

Or someone else altogether? Well, I still think it has something to do with Derek Branning

And apropos of him, Jamie Foreman – who plays the eldest Branning brother – has told Hot TV that he’s “proud” to have joined the cast of the iconic soap.

Jamie, who’s starred in a number of ‘gangster’ films, said, “If I did a movie and it got 8 million viewers, it’d be a box office smash.

“This show gets it four nights a week and once on Sunday, there you go.

“Its pedigree speaks for itself and it’s been going for a lot of years now, and it’s going to go on for a lot of years.

“I’d be very proud to have that on my CV.”

And of what viewers can expect of Derek, Jamie said, “He’s an habitual criminal. He’s just come back from prison recently from doing a rather lumpy sentence of ten years for armed robbery.

“He hasn’t changed, he’s always been the same.”

We’ll meet him in this week’s Branning week of episodes.
