Eastenders hardman Phil Mitchell is about to hit the bottle again as he tries to cope with the Archie/Danielle aftermath.

Phil’s mum Peggy goes on holiday with Aunt Sal leaving Phil alone with his bottles, Phil had previously stopped drinking back in 1997.

An insider told The Sun: “He thought he’d nailed it. But with addiction you’re always in recovery and there’s a danger you’ll slip off the wagon.

“When he’s left alone the temptation becomes too much and soon he’s drinking more than ever before.”

Luckily Shirley finds Phil passed out in the Arches and vows to help him get past his problems.

The insider added: “Phil and Shirley are made for each other. She loves him and he needs a woman to keep him together. The sooner he realises, the better.”
