EastEnders: Rita Simons says Roxy Mitchell “has her heart broken about six times a day”

Roxy Mitchell is about to embark on an affair with affable pub landlord Alfie Moon, and he is just the latest in a long string of men that Roxy has unadvisedly had a romance with…

She of course had a fling with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) who later married her sister Ronnie, then she had a rather tempestuous romance with Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd), and then, she tried it on with Max Branning (Jake Wood) so she’s clearly of the opinion that keeping it in the family is the way forward.

However, as Alfie (Shane Richie) is married to the formidable Kat (Jessie Wallace) Roxy could find herself sans teeth if ever her affair with Alfie becomes public knowledge.

But Rita Simons who of course plays Roxy, reckons that her character isn’t looking to break Kat and Alfie up, or at least, that’s not her intention right now…

Speaking to Soaplife, Rita – who’s also starred in London’s Burning, Mile High and Dream Team – said, “Roxy doesn’t expect Alfie to leave Kat. [Not] at this point…”

And of Roxy’s feelings for Alfie, Rita said, “Any time Alfie’s nice to Roxy she thinks it means he loves her. Her heart gets broken about six times a day.

“She’s just misreading everything.”

Of what happens when Roxy blurts out the truth about her feelings to Alfie in upcoming episodes, Rita said, “He’s really shocked. That’s all I can tell you!”

Rita was then asked if Roxy expects any sort of a future with Alfie, to which she replied, “No – she knows it can’t be because of Kat, but she just can’t help being in love with him.

“I think she’s shown Kat some respect. She’s just telling Alfie she loves him but she’s not trying it on with him.

“We all know Roxy can make a move if she wants to yet she doesn’t do that whole sexiness thing with Alfie.”

And finally, of what would happen if ever Kat were to find out about Roxy’s feelings for Alfie, Rita said, “I imagine it will be the bitch fight of the year!”

We’ll see Alfie and Roxy becoming much closer in this and next week’s episodes.
