EastEnders: See all new pictures of Derek Branning’s funeral! But on the up side, Bianca’s back!

by Lynn Connolly

EastEnders character Derek Branning is set to die in what’s been described as an “explosive” Christmas storyline, and though we don’t as yet know how Del meets his end, we do know that he will be buried in the New Year…

And on EastEnders’ website today, the BBC have posted some spoiler pics of Derek’s final journey, and in them, we see that his brothers Max (Jake Wood) and Jack (Scott Maslen) have bought a spray of flowers for Derek (Jamie Foreman) that spell out ‘Brother’.

We also see that his son Joey (David Witts) breaks down and is comforted by his sister Alice (Jasmyn Banks) as they prepare to say a final farewell to their dad…

Which given how antagonistic their relationship has been is something of a surprise!

And in fact, Joey is among a list of Walford characters that bookmakers’ have odds on for turning out to be Derek’s killer. Currently, Max Branning is topping the list of those likely to bop Del off.

But of course, it could yet transpire that an outside party kills Derek, or it could be that he dies as the result of an accident or even natural causes. He is of course a fan of the full English and he likes a whisky or three, so perhaps a heart attack will result in his demise?

However, there is some silver lining to be had in the photos from Derek’s funeral and that is that his niece Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) is among the mourners!

Bianca has of course been in prison yet again – she returned to Walford last Christmas having had a spell at Her Majesty’s convenience – but she returns to the Square later this month, determined that her most recent time inside will be her last.

However, rumour has it that Bianca isn’t going to find it easy to go straight when she struggles to find work.

We’ll keep you posted on that as soon as we get more spoilers, but for now, here’s a reminder of her return to Albert Square last year, right before poor Pat shuffled off the mortal coil…
