Over the course of the next couple of months, EastEnders’ bulldog-chewing-a-wasp character Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) is set to put all the pieces together and figure out that Ben Mitchell murdered Heather Trott…

Her first clue comes in a forthcoming episode in which she discovers the photo frame that Ben (Joshua Pascoe) used to clock Heather upside the head, prompting her to fall and fatally hit her head on the kitchen worktop.

But of course, Ben’s dad Phil (Steve McFadden) and his adopted brother Jay (Jamie Borthwick) already know that Ben’s a killer, but so far, they’ve managed to connive and deceive enough so that Ben’s not even on the radar over the slaughter…

However, Shirley’s life is set to be a rollercoaster of conflicting emotions over the next few weeks as not only is she still struggling to cope with Heather’s untimely death, she has no idea why Phil is often so distant with her.

But according to the Daily Star today, she will continue to stumble upon evidence that all correctly points to Ben being the murderer, but somewhat bizarrely, when she finally learns the full truth, rather than abandon the duplicitous Mitchell family, she’ll ask Phil to marry her!

A show insider told the paper, “Maybe she thinks keeping him close will put her in the perfect position to spy on him and Ben.

“She’s not going to give up until she’s brought Heather’s killer to justice.”

However, an EastEnders spokesman said, “We never comment on future storylines as we don’t want to spoil the surprise for viewers.”

Oooo! I can’t wait to see Ben get his comeuppance, but it’ll be interesting to see if Shirley’s only set to marry Phil so she can take him for every penny once she reveals she knows the truth!
