EastEnders: So, Kat Moon’s mystery man has cash to spare! Does that rule out Max & leave Derek or Jack Branning in the lover frame? (VIDEO)

In last night’s visit to Walford, we saw that Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) was overjoyed when a mystery benefactor gave him a wad of cash and a travel tickets to enable him to go to Germany to bring back samples of goods from the famous Christmas markets…

And though his wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) implored Alfie not to go – citing the expense as the reason for her objection – so that she wouldn’t be tempted to stray from the marital bed in his absence, a happy Alfie joyfully thanked the mystery donator and went off to pack.

And within minutes, Kat had a text from her lover saying how happy he was that she and he could be together again when Alfie had gone.

But of course, we also saw in last night’s show that Kat threw away the key to the bedsit where she has formerly met up with her lover, however, undeterred, the mystery man comes up with a new plan tonight…

His campaign to win back Kat’s affections begins when he puts a bunch of roses outside the pub, and when that doesn’t seem to do the trick, he manages to make his way into Kat and Alfie’s bedroom.

There, he leaves Kat a candle as a gift with a note that reads, “Light it. Put it in the window. And I’ll come knocking.”

However, furious Kat simply throws it out of the window, and that’s that as far as she’s concerned, but later on, she’s alarmed when Jean (Gillian Wright) tells her that she’s put a candle in Tommy’s bedroom to help him sleep.

Panicked, Kat immediately runs to put out the candle, but as there’s a knock at the door, it seems she may have been too late…

We have a sneak peek clip from tonight’s show for you below, but first, does the fact that Kat’s lover is clearly not short of money – given the cash he gave to Alfie – rule out Max (Jake Wood) in terms of which Branning brother Kat’s having an affair with?

Because of course it was only a couple of weeks ago that Max was struggling to find £1,000 to pay off whoever it is he either owes money to, or is being blackmailed by, in Manchester. So unless he’s suddenly acquired a fair amount of dosh – he has his wedding to Tanya (Jo Joyner) to pay for too – that we don’t know about, then that just leaves Derek (Jamie Foreman) or Jack (Scott Maslen) as candidates for who she’s been having an affair with.

What do you think? I reckon it might well be Derek, and perhaps it will indeed turn out that Alfie kills him for it!

Here’s the clip from tonight’s show…
