It looks like the baby Lexi storyline currently running on EastEnders may have a happy ending after all, if pictures in today’s Sun newspaper are anything to go by!
Fans of the award-winning BBC1 soap will know how teenage mum, Lola (Danielle Harold) is currently fighting to get her baby back after social services took her into care a few weeks ago.
Lola never seemed to take the responsibility of motherhood seriously at first, getting herself into trouble with the police and her neighbours regularly, but just when it looked like she had finally started to bond with her baby, who she gave birth to in a live segment of the Olympic torch episode, one of her actions came back to haunt her, resulting in social services placing the baby with foster parents.
Devastated at the loss, Lola pleaded with her grandfather Billy’s cousin, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) to help her, telling him that the father of the tot, who she had kept secret till that point, was in fact his son Ben (Joshua Pascoe).
Ben is currently awaiting sentencing for the murder of Heather Trott, and Phil, whose entire family have left him since it was discovered that he helped cover up the crime, agreed to try and get custody of his granddaughter, posing as a steady family unit with his old flame, Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean).
Pictures in today’s Sun show the cast, including Phil and Lola, filming scenes with baby Lexi in a church, in what looks like her christening.
Does this mean that Phil managed to get custody of the tot and hand her back to her mum, or has he simply taken her on himself as a replacement for the many family members he has driven away? Only time will tell!
That is not the only mystery this location shoot has brought to light, as also pictured taking part in the event were show favourites Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) and Alfie Moon (Shane Ritchie)… holding hands.
Fans of the show will know how Alfie’s wife, Kat (Jessie Wallace) is currently having an affair with a mystery resident of Albert Square, and as we reported her latest infidelity, along with her new man’s identity, is set to be revealed very soon in a typically dramatic EastEnders way. So, do these pictures prove that Alfie finally kicks his cheating Mrs into touch, and settle down with Roxy, who has quietly loved him for the best part of a year?
We certainly hope so!
