In next week’s episodes of EastEnders, male pride is at stake when Jay Mitchell (Jamie Borthwick) and Dexter Hartman (Khali Best) accuse each other of not pulling their weight at The Arches…

And on encountering their bickering, Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) suggests that in order to find out who really does do the most work, they keep a tally of the jobs they complete over a 48 hour period.

The lads agree and the bet is on, with whoever proves to be the loser to be relegated to the role of tea boy at the garage.

By the time we get to Thursday, May 2, the wager is in full swing and the two are competing to get the most work done. However, when Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) offers Dexter some extra work to help him win the bet, Jay can’t resist suggesting that Billy’s only done so to win favour with Dexter’s mum, Ava!

Angry that Jay might be right, Dexter goes to see Billy to tell him that his mum has nothing to do with the bet, and that by helping him out, Billy won’t be getting any closer to Ava (Claire Perkins), or at least, not if Dexter can help it.

In the episode that airs on Friday, May 3, we’ll see Dexter thanking Billy for his help with the bet, but he again makes it clear that this doesn’t mean he likes him. However, later on, Billy and Ava are getting on like a house on fire, and Dexter doesn’t like it one bit.

However, when Cora (Ann Mitchell) arrives, Dexter reminds Ava that she promised to be nice to her mother, so Dexter pushes her to arrange to go and have a drink with Cora…

But Dexter’s left angry when Ava informs him that she can’t go out with Cora because she’s invited Billy round for dinner!

Will Dexter come round to the blossoming romance between Ava and Billy? Find out next week, but for now, here’s a look at the next episode…
