EastEnders Spoilers: How long can Sharon keep her addiction a secret?! (VIDEO)

EastEnders

Fans of EastEnders will know that Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean) has secretly been taking painkillers again, revisiting an addiction that – when she returned to Albert Square last year – had been behind her…

However, after the trauma of being ditched by former fiancé Jack Branning on their wedding day, and while battling with her true feelings for Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) Sharon has once again sought solace in tablets, but so far, only Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner) and Lola Pearce know about it.

But that’s set to change next week when Lola (Danielle Harold) confides in her granddad Billy, having become worried that Sharon is often left alone with little Lexi.

However, Billy (Perry Fenwick) doesn’t at first believe that Sharon has an addiction problem, and he’s sure Lola has the wrong end of the stick, but when he sees Sharon stumbling, and also – during a family dinner – quietly pouring her wine away, begins to think maybe Lola was right after all.

And for Sharon, the family gathering becomes an ordeal that she tries to smile through when Phil’s ex, Shirley (Linda Henry) turns up and has constant digs at Sharon and Phil. Sharon’s mood isn’t helped when she later finds Lola going through her – Sharon’s – bag, and having found painkillers, Lola angrily accuses Sharon of having lied when she said she wouldn’t take the tablets anymore.

But nonetheless, when Lola once again tries to convince Sharon to tell Phil about her problem, having revealed that she’s worried about Lexi’s safety is Sharon’s still taking pills – Sharon is adamant that she would never do anything that would put Lexi or Dennis at risk.

However, no sooner as a somewhat placated Lola left than we see a shaken Sharon reaching for a bottle of pills…
