EastEnders

Things haven’t been easy for Alice Branning (Jasmyn Banks) of late, given that she lost her dad Derek over Christmas, then in the New Year, she lost her job in a recruitment agency…

However, it looked like things were on the up and up when Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) took her on as nanny to his baby daughter Scarlett, but as viewers will know, he sacked her after her overprotective brother Joey (David Witts) wrongly assumed Alice was doing more for Michael than merely caring for his child.

So it’s little wonder that as the date of Derek’s birthday rolls around, Alice is left yet more despondent when she realises that nobody other than herself has remembered the event.

In the episode that airs on Monday, February 25th, when Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) sees a fed up Alice in the café, she offers her a shoulder to cry on, and on hearing about Alice’s upset over her dad’s upcoming birthday, Kirsty vows to help…

She then begins rallying the Walford troops – including of course all the Brannings – telling them that she’s arranging drinks at the Vic to help Alice commemorate her dad’s birthday, which impresses Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) no end, and she starts to think that maybe Kirsty’s not so bad after all…

However, Tanya (Jo Joyner) is of course livid to hear that Kirsty’s having anything to do with organizing events for the family, and in a show of solidarity, her daughters Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) and Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) refuse to go to the gathering.

But Abi later tells Lauren that she thinks they ought to go for Alice’s sake, and while Lauren steadfastly refuses, Tanya surprises everyone by saying that she will in fact be going! However, she wants to go only to let Kirsty know that she won’t be pushed aside…

So, will Kirsty’s good Samaritan act mean she’s now accepted by the Branning family? And if so, will Tanya be left out in the cold? Find out next week!
