There’s a case of some good news and some bad news for fans of EastEnders today in that it’s been revealed that the show’s bosses plan on reuniting Walford faves Kat and Alfie Moon, however, it’s also been announced that Charlie Brooks is leaving the show for good this time.

Starting with the news about Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie (Shane Richie) getting back together in upcoming storylines, the show’s executive producer Lorraine Newman “let slip” the spoiler while at the TV BAFTAs, where ‘Enders scooped the award for Best Soap.

The Daily Mirror reports that she said, “Hopefully they’ll be getting back together…

“It’s a great love story, we’d be foolish not to.”

Meanwhile, Shane also hinted at a reunion for his character and Jessie’s, saying, “I found out a little bit of what might be happening over the next few months.

“We’re in for a big ride between now and Christmas.

“Of course we’d love another 10 years of Kat and Alfie, there are genuinely exciting times ahead.

“I do miss working with Jessie.”

On now to the news that Charlie Brooks – who has of course only just returned to the show and her role as Janine Butcher – is quitting the show for good, and it seems she’s doing so in order to pursue her dreams of a career in movies in the States.

The Sun’s TV Biz reports that a friend of Charlie’s said, “Charlie wants to give a LA a try and won’t be satisfied until she does.

“As far as she understands, there will be an option to return. Janine is a ratings winner, and she’s hugely regarded among the cast and crew.”

However, last night, Charlie refused to confirm or deny she was quitting again, saying instead, “I’ve only just returned to EastEnders and I’m really happy.
“I’ve some big storylines coming up and am really excited by them.”

So, are you glad that Kat and Alfie will be reuniting? And are you sad that Charlie will be leaving?
