As fans of EastEnders will most likely know, Steve John Shepherd has quit his role as sneaky Michael Moon, and has recently filmed his final scenes for the show…

And as fans of the hit BBC soap may also know, Michael is set to die, but exactly how he’ll meet his end is being kept under wraps by the show’s bosses. However, regardless of how he dies, what we do know is that his funeral looks set to be a rather embarrassingly low-key affair!

Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie – who of course play soon to be reunited lovers Kat and Alfie Moon – were spotted filming Michael’s funeral scenes yesterday, as was Charlie Brooks, who plays Michael’s estranged wife Janine.

We have a sneak peek look at those images for you below, and as you’ll see, there’s no sign of anyone other than Kat and Alfie at the funeral service itself, which would suggest that the already somewhat unpopular Michael manages to make yet more enemies before he shuffles off the mortal coil…

However, there is some suggestion that Michael may be murdered, and as we reported recently, smitten kitten Alice Branning – who’s played by Jasmyn Banks – appears to have a key role to play in Michael’s feet-first exit.

Of Michael’s demise, a show source recently told the Daily Star, “Ever since Janine returned to Albert Square, things have gone from bad to worse for Michael.

“He’s lost custody of his daughter, and hates Janine with a passion. They’ve been fighting for months, and it’s only going to get worse.

“But when Michael manipulates Alice into helping him, she flips out…

“The fall-out will have major consequences.

“Viewers will be shocked by the lengths Janine and Michael will go to for the sake of their daughter.”

We will of course keep you posted when we know more, but for now, here’s a look what’s ahead in the next episode…
