As fans of Bride & Prejudice star Shivani Ghai will know, she’s joined the cast of EastEnders in the role of bride-to-be Ayesha Rana, and we have a clip for you after the jump which features Ayesha’s first introduction to Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia) who is to take care of the girl while she’s in London.

However, unfortunately for Zainab, she’s going to get off on the wrong foot with her young charge when she unknowingly meets her in the café and angrily accuses her of being a queue jumper!

In case you missed the recent announcement about the character of Ayesha being introduced, here’s what the BBC said of her…

Say hello to Ayesha Rana, who will be turning up on the Masoods’ doorstep this December…

ayesha rana eastendersSweet and studious, but rather shy, Ayesha has lived a sheltered life. Since the tragic death of her beloved father, she has been left alone with a distant mother and uncaring brothers.

Ayesha has agreed to fulfil her father’s dying wish, going through with an arranged marriage. Can the Masoods help her? And will her time on the Square encourage this naive young woman to find her voice?

Ayesha will be played by Shivani Ghai, who has previously appeared in Bride and Prejudice, House of Saddam (pictured), Five Days II and Clean Skin.

On her new role, Shivani said, “I’ve been watching EastEnders for years and am excited to be joining such an iconic show.”

However, of what storyline lie ahead of Shivani as Ayesha, I can’t help but wonder if Ayesha may become a love interest for Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel) particularly as we’re soon to hear Tam telling his mother that he would be a far more suitable partner for Ayesha than the man her family want her to marry!

We’ll keep you posted on that, but for now here’s a look at Ayesha arriving at the Masood house…
