EastEnders Spoilers: When Lexi’s rushed to hospital, Lola actions prompt Phil Mitchell to make a big decision! (VIDEO)

Fans of EastEnders will know that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) will do anything to stop Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) getting her daughter Lexi back, and recently, he even lied in court in order to keep custody of the baby…

However, events next week are to prompt hard-man Phil to have a change of heart about Lola, but will it be enough to make him see that the child should be with her mum?

The drama begins on Monday, April 1 when Phil gets a visit from social worker Trish (Tessa Churchard) to tell him that they’re planning on increasing Lola’s contact visits with the baby with a view to her having full-time custody sooner rather than later.

Meanwhile, Billy (Perry Fenwick) and Lola are intrigued when they get a letter from social services summoning them for a meeting. They then go to see Phil to ask if he knows what it’s about, but grumpy Phil replies that it’s “probably just routine” but manages to scare Billy when he adds, “Unless they know about Lola snatching Lexi…”

However, they’re interrupted when Lola rushes downstairs with Lexi, who’s got a raging temperature and is clearly unwell.

In the episode on April 2, as Billy and Phil panic and don’t seem to know what to do, Lola calmly takes control and after ordering the frantic granddads to get cool flannels for the baby, she calls NHS Direct who send an ambulance to take the baby to A&E, fearing she could have meningitis…

At the hospital, as Lola remains calm while the doctors rush to check Lexi out, Phil and Billy wait anxiously for news as Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) and Max Branning (Jake Wood) arrive.

However, it’s soon established that Lexi has a severe case of gastroenteritis and though poorly, she will be fine…

Relieved, Phil confesses to Lola that Trish came to see him and told him that social services are hoping to give the baby back to her soon. Lola is of course delighted, and Billy’s proud when Phil tells her she’s a great mum.

But is it just relief talking or will Phil really support the decision to give Lexi back to Lola when push comes to shove?

Find out soon, but for now, here’s a look at the next episode of EastEnders…
