EastEnders star Charlie Brooks wouldn’t want Janine’s Big Fat Purple Wedding!

EastEnders star Charlie Brooks has revealed that although the set dressing and wardrobe arrangements for her character Janine Malloy’s forthcoming wedding to shady Michael Moon were “lovely” she wouldn’t want such a lavish wedding in real life.

And of course, given Janine’s propensity to marry every few years – and alarmingly often end up a widow – Charlie’s had more than her fair share of weddings on the show!

Janine’s first husband, Barry Evans (Shaun Williamson) died after she pushed him off a cliff. Her second husband, David (Harry Towb) had a heart attack and died on their wedding day. Her third husband, Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott) only narrowly escaped Janine’s clutches after she poisoned him…

But it seems Janine’s met her match in fiancé number four Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) because he’s every bit as devious and malevolent as she is!

They are of course set to wed next week, but we don’t as yet know if they’ll end up going through with the ceremony after Michael not only confesses that he did take money from Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) but also insists Janine cancel their pre-nuptial agreement before the wedding.

However, returning to what Charlie had to say of the latest of Janine’s elaborate weddings, she explained, “I was really excited when I saw the Square decorated in lots of lovely purples…

“It looks really pretty and I loved the dress, but I would never want a wedding like that.

“I’d rather spend my money on other things.”

Of Michael’s wedding day revelations, Charlie said, “She feels really confused and shocked at that moment.

“Suddenly, she starts to question his motives and wonders if he’s marrying her just to get his hands on her money.

“She desperately wants to believe that he loves her and wants this wedding to go ahead.”

She added, “I love working with Steve and what’s great is that I think he and I have a long way to go in terms of Michael and Janine’s relationship.

“There’s a lot more to explore. They’re both toxic and I love the fact that things are so complicated between them.”

And finally, on the subject of Charlie taking a six-month break from the show in August, she said, “I wanted some breathing space really. It took a little bit of begging, but I got there in the end.

“I realise how lucky I am to be able to take a six-month break and have a job to go back to.

“I’ll miss Janine and bet I’ll be raring to go when I get back!”

Here’s a sneak peek at the big wedding day drama…
