EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa loves playing “ridiculous” Lauren Branning but she hardly ever sees boyfriend Tony Discipline!

As fans of EastEnders will know, Lauren Branning likes a drink or two, or five, or ten, but according to Jacqueline Jossa who plays boozy Lauren, acting out the drunken scenes has proven to be a useful reminder to herself to not to get drunk in real life.

However, while speaking to the Mirror from the red carpet of this week’s Inside Soap Awards, Jacqueline further revealed that though she does love playing the role of Lauren, her work commitments mean that she and her co-star boyfriend Tony Discipline – who of course plays Tyler Moon – hardly ever get to see each other!

Of that, Jacqueline said, “People think it’s weird but we really don’t see each other…

“The only time we do is when we walk past each other on set and I’m like ‘alright’.

“I think it helps, it means were not on top of each other.”

And of how they got together in the first place, Jacqueline said, “We chased each other really. We were friends for ages and then it just sort of happened.”

A bit like things just “sort of happen” to Lauren, such as finding herself extremely drunk on a regular basis!

Of boozy Lauren’s storylines, Jacqueline explained, “Playing Lauren has put me off drink. People come up to me all the time…

“The older viewers are hysterical, saying ‘Oh please, stop drinking, do it for me,’ whilst the younger viewers come up to me and they’re like ‘come on, let me buy you a drink!’

“It put me off drinking! I still have the odd one now and again but I don’t like being smashed off my face because I think oh God, the way people look at Lauren, do they look at me like that?

“That’s bad. I’m not as bad as her.”

However, she added, “Its fun, I can do ridiculous things and get away with it.

“I go along with anything. I’ve got a funny twitch, that’s cool, Lauren has that when she’s drinking.”

Here’s a reminder of one of Lauren’s binges, which took place at poor old Pat’s funeral…
