EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa reckons spewy Lauren Branning is anything but sexy!

EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa has revealed her surprise at being nominated in the category of Sexiest Female at the British Soap Awards, as she says that for most of the time she’s on-screen as Lauren Branning, she’s throwing up!

Other runners and riders in the category include Jacqueline’s co-star Preeya Kalidas – who of course played Amira Masood – Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan and Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter.

But of being nominated, a modest Jacqueline told TV Biz, “The other girls are all very, very sexy! How can I be up against Michelle Keegan?

“I don’t know how I am nominated, all I do is throw up!

“Maybe it’s because Lauren is just your normal girl, a plain Jane, but maybe people see a sexy side to her.

“I think some girls relate to her, although maybe not all of them have run over their dad…

“I am excited about it because it is nice to be nominated but I’m nervous as well because people will be expecting me to be sexy and I am just not.

“I like getting dressed up, though, because Lauren never does so it is nice to put on some make-up and do something different.”

But of the fact that Jacqueline’s co-star and boyfriend Tony Discipline – who plays Tyler Moon – wasn’t nominated in the Sexiest Male category, she said, “He should have been nominated…

“He is so sexy. I haven’t ripped it out of him for not being nominated but I should though. I am going to start.”

But Jacqueline added, “He doesn’t care that he hasn’t been nominated. We will go to the awards together, we’re all going.”

Moving on then to how she feels about playing Lauren, and particularly portraying the teen with an alcohol problem, Jacqueline said, “I am loving the drinking storyline. It is fun to play around with.

“You can take what your friends are like drunk and what you are like drunk and then just what you would imagine Lauren is like drunk and add it all together.

“You do not drink just for the sake of drinking, whereas with Lauren she needs to have another… and then another and another.

“I love Lauren, bless her. Sometimes I wish she would just have a lovely day or go for a holiday.

“Lauren is starting to realise she might have a problem, so hopefully when she does, things might change.”

And finally, of staying with the show, Jacqueline said, “I still think there is so much that Lauren can do.

“She’s not finished so hopefully I’ll stay here for a little bit longer. Maybe I would like to be like Dot Cotton.

“I just want to work behind the bar in the Queen Vic once, then my life would be complete.

“I still love it, definitely. I have thought about making it in the movies but I’m young so there is still time for that.

“I still have so much to learn here. It is like a college for me.”
