EastEnders star Jo Joyner has filmed her final scenes as Tanya Branning!

As we reported earlier, ITV were celebrating last night as it was revealed that their primetime soap Emmerdale had thrashed rival BBC drama EastEnders in the viewer ratings on Tuesday night…

And it’s been widely speculated of late that the dwindling number of EastEnders viewers is down to the “cast exodus” which has seen some of the show’s biggest names leaving the soap in recent months.

Among those who’ve left, or are about to leave, is Jo Joyner, who of course plays Tanya Branning, and yesterday, she filmed her final scenes as the long-suffering mum.

Her co-star Jake Wood, who plays Tanya’s estranged husband Max Branning, took to Twitter to express his upset over Jo’s last day while posting a picture of himself and Jo on-set.

He wrote, “So here’s me and Jo after filming our last scene together this morning…gonna miss you @dollyjoyner x.”

And on her Twitter account, Jo wrote, “That’s a wrap! I am officially ‘that woman that use to play thingy in ‘Enders’!”

She added, “Thanks to the lovely @mrjakedwood for such a special time x.”

As we reported earlier this week, the newly returned Charlie Brooks has also announced that she’s quitting the show and her role as Janine Butcher. Steve John Shepherd, who plays Janine’s errant husband Michael is also set to leave the soap.

Similarly, it’s been rumoured that Scott Maslen – who plays Jack Branning – is quitting, and next week, we’ll see Chucky Venn for the last time in his role as Ray Dixon.

However, the BBC is reportedly trying to lure back former fan favourites, such as Michael French who played David Wicks, in a bid to stem the haemorrhaging of viewers.

What’s you opinion? Is EastEnders going downhill because so many familiar faces are leaving? Or is it down to something else?

And are you going to miss Jo on the show? I certainly will! She’s always been one of my favourites on the show.

Anywho, for now, here’s a look at tonight’s episode of EastEnders…
