EastEnders star Nina Wadia teases, “You haven’t seen the worst of Yusef yet!”

As viewers of EastEnders will know, Doctor Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) is a baddie. He’s badder than… a bad thing, and has spent months manipulating and scheming to get his ex-wife Zainab Masood back…

But why does he want her back so badly? Is it just so he can get back what was once his? Or does he genuinely love Zainab – who’s played by Nina Wadia – and wants to be a good husband to her?

I’m inclined to believe it’s the former reason, and like a frustrated angler, he wants the one that got away. Other fish in the sea will not do.

So far, he’s managed to split Zainab and Mas (Nitin Ganatra) up, make everyone believe that Zainab was trying to kill herself with an overdose – after getting her hooked on sedatives in the first place – and he’s meddling with Amira (Preeya Kalidas) and Syed’s (Marc Elliott) fragile truce.

However, if a recent rumour is to be believed, nasty Yusef is to be killed in a fire at the B&B at Christmas, but whatever his ultimate fate, Nina Wadia reckons there’s worse to come from Yusef yet…

Speaking to Inside Soap about what lies ahead with Yusef, Nina said, “You haven’t even seen the worst of Yusef yet!”

Nina wouldn’t be drawn on exactly what it is that’s going to show us just how bad Yusef is, but we do know that in forthcoming episodes, he’s going to try to convince Syed that Amira may have been unfaithful, and that baby Yasmin isn’t his.

Getting back to Nina, she added, “Let’s just say that what happens is the complete opposite of what you want to see.

“Zainab and Yusef share a dark and twisted love, and she definitely has feelings for him.

“It’s not true and pure like what she used to have with Masood, and if Yusef manages to get her back to Pakistan, it will be the end for her.”

Nina then joked, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Zainab ends up in some sort of home to recover from everything that’s going to happen.”

I can’t wait to see what’s up devious Yusef’s not inconsiderable sleeve!
