EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra praises “spectacular” B&B blaze scenes, and Pat Evans’ last kiss

EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra has told Inside Soap that the forthcoming scenes in which a fire decimates the B&B – and kills at least one person – are “spectacular”.

As fans of the show will know, Doctor Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) will die in the inferno, while Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel) is to be left horribly disfigured by burns.

It’s also expected that Masood – who is of course Nitin’s character – and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) will be injured in the fire, which is started deliberately.

Nitin said of the fire scenes, “It was really exciting to do. There’s a lot of action and it’s spectacular…

“It takes place on Boxing Day and there are lots of twists and turns. What happens next is amazing.

“I was walking through [the fire] and standing in it! I was like a little kid – I got really excited.

“There were certain points where they’d bring in a stuntman. But most of the time we did it on our own, which was great.”

And of course another yuletide tragedy in waiting is the death of Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) but as this picture shows, during her last days, she finds comfort in the warmth of Patrick Trueman’s friendship, and it’s with him that Pat has her last kiss under the mistletoe.

The Sun reports that Pat and Patrick grow close once again – they used to be an item – when she confides her financial worries to him, and he tries to sort them out for her.

But of course, Pat’s days are numbered, and the cast have already filmed her funeral, which is said to be “incredibly sad.”

A show insider told the paper, “Pat and Patrick become close over the festivities but before anything can really happen between them it is too late.”

Awww poor Pat! I’m going to miss her – are you?
