EastEnders star Shane Richie vamps it up in new movie, The Reverend! (VIDEO)

As Alfie Moon in EastEnders, Shane Richie plays a doormat – where wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) is concerned anyway – but in a new movie entitled The Reverend, he plays the role of a pimp and drug addict who’s a far cry from paisley shirt loving, gentle dad and kindly mine host Alfie.

The film, which also stars icon Rutger Hauer and Stuart Brennan, will be released on August 3 in cinemas, and on August 6 on DVD.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Reverend:

BAFTA winner Stuart Brennan is coming back to your screens in the blood-dripping-ly juice horror film, The Reverend . Starring alongside Tamer Hassan, Rutger Hauer, Shane Richie, Edmund Kingsley, and Emily Booth, with Simon Phillips, Brennan’s Reverend bites off more than he can chew…

Fresh from seminary school, a new Reverend embarks on his first parish; a small, low-maintenance chapel based in the idyllic setting of a quiet country village.

While on the surface, the village seems to be a peaceful parish, with perfect residents, soon it becomes apparent that something more sinister lurks beneath the façade of a local businessman.

On a wet, cold night, a mysterious girl visits the Reverend at the chapel. She is welcomed in warmly, but soon it becomes apparent that her visit is not for sanctuary but to deliver a message, a message in the form of a deep, bloody bite…

Awoken with an unknown, uncontrollable thirst, the confused Reverend can’t find any evidence of the girl from the night before.

With nothing but his thirst and memory of the bite, the Reverend embarks on a mandate to clean up the village and the neighbouring estate…by preaching or feasting.

O wow I can’t wait to see this! But for now, we’ll have to make do with the film’s trailer…
