I have to say, EastEnders bosses have done an annoyingly good job of keeping the identity of Kat Moon’s (Jessie Wallace) lover under wraps…

The whodunit – or the Who’s Still Doing It I should say – plotline began with five suspects, namely, all three Branning brothers, Max, Derek and Jack, as well as Michael Moon and Ray Dixon.

Ray (Chucky Venn) was eliminated a few weeks ago now, and while many fans of the show still reckon it’ll turn out to be Jack (Scott Maslen) after the whole ‘I Love You’ message written on a bandage, I became convinced it’d be Max (Jake Wood).

However, as Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) has been more than normally shifty of late, and as his wife Janine (Charlie Brooks) suspects he’s having an affair, he’s surely a good contender…

But of course, as with the Who’s The Daddy storyline with Heather and Darren, the long-shot outsider, in this case, Derek (Jamie Foreman) may still turn out to be the mystery man.

But having said all that, we’re going to find out who Mr X really is next week, and ahead of it, Janine is set to catch Michael out in yet another lie in Monday’s episode.

However, it’s the as yet only teaser snippets of spoilery goodness from the following week that make me inclined to think it’s Michael…

In teasers for the episode that airs on Monday 17 September, the BBC states, “Michael is desperate not to have his private life broadcast around Walford.

“However, with Billy as his right hand man, it doesn’t take long before his news spreads – which leads to further problems…”

Add to that the fact that Janine is going to leave the Square for six months soon, given that Charlie Brooks is taking some leave from the show, as of right now, for me at least, the flashing arrow of guilt is pointing rather firmly at Michael.
