Eastenders this Christmas ~ picture special
As always, Christmas is a busy time in soap land with murders, explosions, kidnappings and general misery served alongside turkey and Christmas pud, so let’s take a look at what Eastenders have in store for us over Christmas.
Christmas Eve 8pm
Roxy and Sean plan to go shopping but before they leave, Peggy asks them to be back in time to say hello to Aunt Sal. When the loved-up pair leave, Archie opens a letter from an estate agent in Dagenham about the house Sean has rented for them. At that moment, Suzy appears wanting to know when Archie’s going to come through with his end of the deal. Archie assures her that he’ll sort it but Suzy’s becoming impatient. As Archie and Peggy discuss Roxy and Sean’s plan to leave Walford, Aunt Sal arrives.
Later, Sean announces to the gathered families that he, Roxy and Amy plan to move to Dagenham after Christmas. Breaking the stunned silence, Archie proposes a toast to their new life away from the Square. Meanwhile, Phil urges Suzy to rest following her miscarriage, but Suzy’s adamant that she’s fine and all she wants is a drink. After everyone leaves, Roxy takes Amy to bed leaving Sean alone with Archie. Sean’s tells Archie that he’s adamant that what he’s doing is right for his family.
Archie then calls Suzy over to The Vic and when she arrives, he hands her a piece of paper – it’s a photocopy of the paternity test results confirming that Sean isn’t Amy’s father. Archie wants Suzy to break the news to him as painfully as possible.
Jean’s worried about Sean moving away and Ronnie’s not happy about it either. Aunt Sal tells Ronnie that she doesn’t trust Archie and later warns Peggy about him. Heather flirts with Garry but she’s disappointed that her mother hasn’t sent her a Christmas card but later, she forgets her woes and snogs Billy!
Elsewhere, Janine gets into the Christmas spirit, Tiffany takes centre stage singing Christmas carols in the Square and Ian has to stay with Dot as Jane’s thrown him out.
Christmas day 8pm
It’s Christmas morning in Albert Square and Sean’s busy wiring up a sound system, ready to sing to Roxy. She’s thrilled by his romantic gesture, but Sean continues to get on Archie’s nerves. A little later on, Archie overhears Sean telling Roxy that in a few hours time, they’ll be miles away from Walford and settling into their new home. Archie’s now waiting patiently for Suzy so he can put his plan into practice.
As Peggy and the rest of the family settle down for the lunch, a half-cut Suzy stumbles into The Vic and heads straight for the bar.
Archie drags her to one side and asks her what she’s planning on doing with the paternity test results. Suzy, however, demands her money otherwise she says she’ll drop him in it. As Archie realises that he’s losing control, he angrily grabs her but she’s blasé about the situation saying she has nothing to lose.
Finding Roxy alone, Suzy tells her that she knows about Sean not being Amy’s dad and that if she doesn’t want anyone to know, she wants money.
Panicking, Roxy begins to pack her things and she eventually breaks down when Archie walks in, before confessing that Sean isn’t Amy’s father and explaining that Suzy’s blackmailing her. Without giving away that he knows all about it, Archie assures his daughter that he’ll deal with Suzy as he knows a secret of hers, too. Archie asks Suzy to see Roxy upstairs, where Roxy reveals that she knows about her fake pregnancy, but as they’re talking, Phil walks in and Suzy confesses that she was never pregnant. This leaves Roxy without any ammunition.
Suzy’s delighted that Roxy’s plan has backfired and as Sean enters the room, Roxy’s scared about what Suzy might say. Archie sends Roxy and Sean downstairs and hands Suzy the cash from The Vic’s safe. He demands the DNA results from her, but she reveals that she’s already planted them somewhere and that he won’t find them.
Suzy then walks out of The Vic and with her out of the way, everyone continues with the festivities, clinking glasses and pulling Ben’s home-made crackers. Sean, however, is gob-smacked by the surprise that’s his – it’s a copy of the paternity test.
Elsewhere, Bianca receives a hamper, the Masoods help Ian and Jane out with food and Dot gets a surprise when Jim arrives for Christmas.
Christmas Day 9pm
In our second visit of the day to Walford, everybody around the table is stunned as Sean confronts Roxy over baby Amy’s paternity. Jack soon realises that he’s the father while Roxy stares at her plate as the seriousness of the situation finally hits home. As Roxy tries to run upstairs, Ronnie catches her and she breaks down in her sister’s arms. Ronnie quizzes Roxy about Amy’s father but Roxy’s dismissive and feigns ignorance as to his identity. Sean heads across to the Slaters with Roxy clinging on to his arm and once at the house, Stacey’s shocked to learn that Sean isn’t Amy’s dad.
Marching round to The Vic, Stacey confronts Ronnie about Roxy and baby Amy and draws comparisons between the Brannings and the Mitchells. Jack quickly pushes Stacey out of the door prompting Ronnie to question his actions. Roxy finds Sean in the launderette and is bombarded with questions as to who is Amy’s father. She confesses that she was scared to tell him the truth in case she lost him and says he’ll always be Amy’s dad to her. Sean however is adamant that he wants to know who Amy’s father is.
Desperate to keep Sean, Roxy swears on Amy’s life that the baby’s biological father is nobody Sean knows. At that moment, Ronnie storms into the launderette with Jack in tow. Jack tries to persuade Ronnie to leave but she wants to know why he’s acting so strangely. Sean realises Jack’s hiding something and the pair tussle outside as the truth dawns on Sean that Jack is Amy’s dad. Roxy looks on consumed by shame as Ronnie processes the revelation.
Elsewhere, Christian’s vests become a focal point at the Beales while Jim and Dot have a nice Christmas together until Dot gets another shock visitor…
Boxing Day 8pm
Dot isn’t sure what to make of Nick turning up again but she’s determined not to believe him unquestioningly this time.
Elsewhere, now the DNA test results have been revealed, Roxy reluctantly admits to Sean and Ronnie that Jack is baby Amy’s biological father. Unable to cope with the news, Ronnie walks away while Sean gets angry with Jack. Sean tells Roxy that he never wants to see her again and on seeing that he’s serious, she walks away leaving Sean devastated.
Jack later goes to see Roxy and confronts her about the paternity test, which rouses Archie’s suspicions. With Jack gone, Ronnie heads to The Vic to find Roxy. Peggy tries to play peacemaker, but Ronnie’s furious while over at the Slaters, Sean’s sneaking out with his bag.
Ronnie’s furious as she confronts her sister about her betrayal saying everything’s changed between them now. Roxy asks whether Ronnie will hold a grudge against her for the rest of her life, like she’s done with Archie, but Roxy soon realises she’s overstepped the mark when Ronnie storms out.
Sean’s in the Arches picking up some tools and makes a call to Roxy – he wants to meet her in the park otherwise he might do something stupid.
As Archie and Roxy search the park, Sean’s nowhere to be found but on returning to The Vic, they’re devastated to discover that Amy’s disappeared…
Elsewhere, Suzy and Shirley have a scrap and Nick buys Dot a gift and reveals that he’s now a successful plumber, before revealing his daughter to her – little Dotty.
