EastEnders bosses are currently playing out a classic whodunit storyline in the form of keeping viewers in suspenders to discover the identity of Kat Moon’s lover…

The five suspects are of course Derek, Max and Jack Branning, Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) and pub chef, Ray Dixon, and all week, visitors to the show’s official website have been voting in a poll to see who they think the mystery man is.

And topping the charts at 33.7% of votes is Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) with Ray Dixon (Chucky Venn) being in second place with 24.9% of the vote.

Only 14.5% of voters thought it will turn out to be Derek (Jamie Foreman) while Michael being the secret diddler is considered most likely by 14.6%. Max (Jake Wood) crashed and burned with only 12.4% of voters choosing him as Kat’s Mr Lover Lover…

The true identity of the mystery man is being kept under wraps until the autumn, and even Jessie Wallace, who of course plays Kat, doesn’t know who her character’s lover is.

She recently said, “It’s really exciting! It’s cleverly written so no one knows who Kat’s secret lover is – not even me or the mystery man himself.”

But as we’ll see next week, things are set to get hot and steamy on the Square again when the mystery man leaves a set of keys to a flat for Kat, hoping that she’ll meet him there.

Whether she does or not remains to be seen, but we’ll find out as of July 19th.
