Ex-Eastenders actress Wendy Richard has spoken to the Daily Star about her heartbreak at being told she’s dying of cancer.

The star revealed that she’s written a will and has planned her funeral after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of the disease which has attacked her kidneys and spread to her bones.

The 65-year-old, who’s beaten breast cancer twice, is now going to marry her long-term partner John Burns next Friday, just three days before starting chemotherapy.

She told the paper how she received the diagnosis in January. She said, “I went for my usual annual check-up and they found that some cancer cells had returned in my left armpit.”

Wendy was prescribed a course of cancer-beating drugs but unfortunately, they actually made it worse.

Wendy and John’s wedding plans have been so rushed that the couple haven’t bought their wedding outfits yet and have no time to order a cake or flowers. There’s no time for a honeymoon either but they are planning a trip to America after the chemo.

“All I want is a pain-free day and to be able to have a laugh,” said Wendy.

She added that she wanted to be remembered as, “Wendy Richard – she was a good laugh.”
