Eastenders: Who Ran Max Down?
Warning: Spoilers included!
Speculation is rife at the moment about who was the hit-and-run driver who left Max Branning fighting for his life in Eastenders last week… so who’s in the frame?
Well, pretty much everyone, with the exception of Dot who was in her nightdress and curlers and would never have gone out in the street like that. So who does that leave as top contenders for the role of would be murderer?
Here are the most likely suspects:
Bradley
Tanya
Jack
Lauren
However, as the still image from the hit-and-run shows, it’s clearly an adult man, so that probably rules out Tanya and Lauren – unless they are really good at disguises and sudden height gain – and means it was likely to have been Jack or Bradley… but, the man driving also looks a bit like Darren doesn’t he?
Could it be that Darren hit Max accidentally or did Bradley or Jack do it deliberately? On the other hand, is it going to turn out to be a random car-jacking incident gone wrong? Nah, I don’t think so either.
My money’s on Bradley. He’d been drinking, he blames his dad for his failed marriage and he was outside wandering around a bit the worse for wear.
So who do you think dunnit?
But – and here come the spoilers so don’t read on if you don’t want to know what’s coming up on the show – in a sneaky peek at upcoming episodes, there’s going to be a big question mark over Tanya’s involvement. She’s to be arrested in connection with the hit-and-run but before that happens – in episodes to be shown in a couple of weeks – following an outburst over dinner, Lauren tells her mum that she feels guilty for the whole situation, since she was the one who copied the DVD last Christmas.
Tanya trys to comfort her and tells her it would’ve all been exposed at some point, whether she’d copied the DVD or not. Just as Lauren’s starting to feel better, they’re interrupted by someone at the door. It’s D.S. Keeble and he wants to speak with Tanya about ‘inconsistent’ marks on Max’s body. As Tanya denies any knowledge of an attack on Max – presumably the one that Jack perpetrated on him – Lauren rushes into the room and is insistent that she speak with Tanya.
In the kitchen, Lauren reveals that she knows what happened to Max, leaving Tanya in a state of shock. What it is she tells Tanya we’ll have to wait and see but in the following episodes, the police are so convinced of her involvement that they charge her with attempted murder and refuse her bail.
So, did she hire a hit man or do they have totally the wrong person in custody? Will she tell them about Jack beating Max up?
Time will tell!

O.M.G i thought it was bradly or lauren as bradly wasdrunk after stacy rejected him and said it wuld never work because of max so i thought bradly did it and he refused to go c him at the hospital and wen he got the he just walked out and i think it was lauren because she was angre with him from what he said to her and wat he did to peter and bradley and her were both missing at the time but it couldnt of been jack or tanya because they were @ home discusin wat jack did to max this is like stupid cluedo
i think it was tanya, did you see her face in the hospital when she was talking to Abbey – she had guilty written across it – watch this space.
in the hopital lauren say to the nurse is he going to die she said it like she wanted him to die and at the end when the police turn up at the hospital look at lauren face when the nurse says the police want to speak to tanya and jack she looks really scared because she looks at the police and the way max has treated her over the past year i would’nt be suprised if she did it so i vote for lauren

I think it was Lauren. Jack was with Ronnie (I think), Tanya was looking for Lauren, Bradley was drunk and Abi found Max. Lauren went to Peter and didn’t see her in the episode again until Monday. Lauren tells Tanya something tomorrow which shocks Tanya. Jack, Bradley and Tanya wouldnt try and kill max

It has to be Sean,he`s got a history with Tanya when he helped bury Max.Tanya paid him to run Max over and Sean needs the money to rent a place and get out of the vic.
This story line is to run for sometime,proberbly find out around xmas time.

and jack was just out and about with “ronnie” or jus doing some “club” work.
so basicalli i think when the truth comes out it will not be shocking!

i say it was Peter Beale! Max hurt him and just where was he when it happend? he loves lauren and max wont let him be with her? and its someone people never think about! also another point lauren knows whodid it wasnt she with him before it happend!

Yep.. i definatly agree with peter Beale its so obvious the night that max was run down lauren was cryin to him sayin that max had reueind her life and was totally miserable and so peter obviously would do anything for her!

when jack went to see ronnie for the apparent ‘final goodbye’ – later to be fake alibi – Jack went in the safe where the war medal was he was getting loadsa of cash out – i bet to pay that bent copper off for runing max over…that he and tanya both asked him to do it. also tht copper seem stressed as he was asking jack if abbi seen the face of the person – obviously he was bricking it as it was HIM!
Well i think they are all gulity because max kept cheating on tanya,max cheated tanya with stacey and stacey cheated on bradley with his dad max,lauran made a dvd of them a having affair,and there jack max’s brother

1. Jack – that day he beat the crap outa him pretended to shoot him and scared the shit outa max the dick.
Tanya – it could of been wen she sed she was looking for lauren but it mite not be because tanya kissed max that night if u remember n then got scared and ran out.
3.bradley – that nite he was so angry at him because he had supposed 2 have ruined his marrage and what he sed when he visited him
4. Lauren – because of what he did to her party wen all her mates were round that was wen she started to hate him then she found out the truth why peter dumped her so she was really pissed off
5. peter – because he made him dump lauren and he loved her.
6. darren – because he and libby were tryin 2 leave walford.
7. The copper that give jack the gun cos he sed he dusnt want to go 2 jail for jack so u knw

This is a well considered, extremely rational theory.

Lets firstly consider this, Lauren knows who did it..FACT (probably). After she left the halloween celebration to go to see Peter, was not seen again in the episode AT ALL, thus she is as well as Peter a suspect.
My theory is that what she told Tanya was that her and Peter Beale either together or on his own ran over Max. You can see from Tanya’s shock that it was not that of a person whom has just been found out. In addition if it was Tanya and Lauren knew this, what kind of child bares no ill-feeling to a mother who has just attempted to kill their father?
It follows that Tanya, to protect her daughter chose to admit to the attempted murder. I personally believe the so called Stacey Slater witness is a hoax, purely used to convince the police of the admition. It is my belief that Tanya at some point asked Stacey to admit to witnessing the event. This may seem unplausible, however I feel it will transpire that Stacey did so because of her regret of past events involving the Brannings.
Now the key question, why Peter? Lets cast are mind back to the days and weeks prior to the event. Do you recall the various encounters between Peter and Max? Max trying to stop them being together. This in addition to Lauren’s anger on the night towards her father, and her going to see a bitter Peter whom was being prevented from seeing Lauren by Max, I argue is motive enough for the attempted murder.
It was not:
Jack – he could have done it earlier the same day, it would just be stupid.
Bradley – A possibility, for obvious reasons, similarly he fits into my theory that the true person is being protected, in the sense that Stacey may feel guilty, but why would Tanya proctect him? Also is Bradley’s charachter the kind that could hide something like that?
Tanya – NO, her charachter tried it before why would the writers, do it again. Also just watch her, the admition, the way she spoke to Jack about it, her shock, her stopping Lauren from talking to the police.
Ronnie – Interesting, may she wanted to make sure Jack stayed, but still unlikely.
Sean – No active motive, why would Tnya pay him?
Every other suspect is a non-starter. Peter and Lauren mark my words.

It was jack, reliable source that works on the Eastenders set. The Tania thing is just a distraction. Does anyone really think it would be that easy, giving the soaps previous history of never ending stories.

It doesnt mae sense of how lauren can drive. from prieview pictures it looked like a car the size of jacks merc hit max, but it werent jack. however, if lauren was drivign jacks merc, it would make sense with her driving it, coz remember, the mercs automatic, so basically anyone can operate it.
