Edward Woodward ‘The Equalizer’ dies

British actor Edward Woodward has died , aged 79.

Woodward, most famous for his role in 80’s crime drama ‘The Equalizer’, had been suffering from various illnesses including pneumonia and died in hospital, said his agent Janet Glass.

Edward was last seen on our TV screens as Tommy Clifford on Eastenders earlier this year.

Ms Glass said in a statement: “Universally loved and admired through his unforgettable roles in classic productions, he was equally fine and courageous in real life, never losing his brave spirit and wonderful humour throughout his illness.

“His passing will leave a huge gap in many lives,” she added.

    I always liked Edward Woodward. Especially in The Equalizer which is one of those programmes from my childhood that I’ll always look back on fondly (A Team being another one). He was an excellent actor and I’m sorry to hear about his passing.

    I don’t know why but I always got the feeling he would make a brilliant Grandad.
