Ellie Goulding remains top of the charts for a second week with ‘Burn’

Ellie Goulding in the midweek chart update was on course to remain at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart for yet another week after she scored her first ever UK Number 1 single last week.

We can officially reveal according to information released by The Official Charts Company that indeed Ellie Goulding and ‘Burn’ remain at the top of the charts for a second week.

The 26 year old songwriter sent Miley Cyrus’ ‘We Can’t Stop’ into second place last week with her track ‘Burn’ which was the British stars first UK Number 1 Single since her career began in 2010.

Last week when the announcement was made Ellie was at V Festival and was therefore unable to receive her award by Official Chart Show host Jameela Jamil live on air.

So instead Ellie Goulding was presented with her Number 1 award by fellow musician Rita Ora.

Elsewhere in the chart this week ‘Wake Me Up’ by Avicii remains strongly at Number (2) while Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine) by Klangkarussell FT Will Heard is new in a Number (3).

‘Earthquake’ featuring Dominique Young Unique debuts in at Number (4) this week while at Number (5) is the Cedric Gervais remix of Lana Del Rey’s ‘Summertime Sadness’

Looking at new entries this week there are three in total according to information released by The Official Charts Company.

Following the Number (1) he had with ‘What About Us?’ with The Saturdays, Sean Paul returns to the Top 10 with his new single ‘Other Side Of Love’ which is in at Number (7).

Naughty Boy debuts in the Top 10 this week with his new single Lifted featuring Emeli Sande which debuts at Number (8)

Finally this week former Spice Girl Melanie C and X Factor winner Matt Cardle debut in this weeks chart at Number (14) with their duet ‘Loving You’
