Embarrassing Bodies Tackles Gynaecological Issues

Continuing this special series as the Embarrassing Illnesses doctors aim to de-stigmatise common complaints that many people would rather ignore than take to their GP. This show is dedicated to gynaecological issues as the three straight-talking doctors – Christian Jessen, Dawn Harper and Pixie McKenna – take their clinic to the streets of the UK, finding patients who desperately need their help.

Embarrassing Bodies features a case study of a mother who has experienced a vaginal and rectal prolapse following the birth of her large baby, and a woman who has spent the last 26 years putting up with urge incontinence. Dr Pixie also meets a student whose condition of polycystic ovarian syndrome has given her excess hair on her face, back and chest.

Tonight’s programme also gives advice and information on commonplace conditions such as the menopause, discharge, painful periods and STIs. The show hopes to raise awareness of potentially life-threatening symptoms that are often ignored because they’re in a private part of the body.

The GPs encourage viewers to examine themselves at home and give guidance for self-examination. The doctors use a 7ft giant inflatable vagina to help to educate women about their bodies and also demonstrate how women should check themselves for vulva cancer.

I am interested in contacting a suitable doctor/gynaecologist on a prolapse problem that I had operated on a few years ago and has now returned. There seem to be new procedures now which I would like to explore.

I went to have an ultrasound of the womb lately and the geono said that he found fibroid tissue and two tiny systs in both the ovaries. He said that there is nothing to worry about as they will disappear in a few months and he want to see me again after 6 months. Still worried about it. Can you also explain why my stomach is so big and bloated as if I look pregnant

Im 14 and have been extemely ill over the past 2 years. I was on steroids and put on alot of weight. As i went from 28kg to 41kg. My legs are gross and disgusting now for they are covered from my waist to my ankles and even on the top of my feet. I cant wear skirts or even go public swimming as people stare at me,point, talk. And I try my hardest not to let them get to me but im finding this impossible to do. I have tryed stretch mark creams such as palmers coco butter cream and lotion. But this hasnt worked. I am trying out aloe vera creams but is there anything i can use to make them better quicker? As I am only 39 kg at 14 with a lot of stretchmarks. Thanks.
