EMBARRASSING ILLNESSES LAUNCHES ON CHANNEL 4

Embarrassing IllnessesThe Embarrassing Illnesses clinic is open for business to tackle the medical problems that people would rather ignore than take to a doctor. Nothing is too shameful or shocking, as this new series explores the conditions and ailments that leave many of us a little red-faced, and aims to de-stigmatise common complaints.

Three doctors - Dawn Harper, Christian Jessen and Pixie McKenna - throw open the doors of the clinic in a bid to tackle each condition head-on, while attempting to take away the sting of shame. Patients being seen by the doctors tonight include: Nick, 55, with painful piles; and Alex, who has feet like stilton with a bad case of athlete’s foot. Also coming through the clinic doors are Charlotte, who is not sure what is normal down below; 20-year-old Victoria, with a worrying case of inverted nipples; Nicky, who suffers from excessive gas; and 46-year-old Dave, with a skin tag problem. And the Moseley Rugby Club get to grips with a new set of balls as Dr Jessen persuades the team to examine themselves for testicular cancer. Ninety per cent of testicular cancer cases can be cured if they’re picked up early enough, so the team lose their inhibitions along with their towels and strip down to the bare essentials.
