Eminem storms the albums chart with his eighth studio album

You’ll remember that we reported on Wednesday that Eminem looked set to storm the Official Albums Chart with his new album ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’.

We can now reveal that according to sales data released by the Official Charts Company that he has scored yet another number 1 with his eighth studio album.

‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ is a continuation of the first LP which was released back in 2000 and the album is the rappers seventh consecutive Number 1 in the UK.

Eminem is now on par with The Beatles who also managed to achieve an unbroken run of seven UK Number 1 albums in a row and they done so between 1963 and 1966.

The overall record is held by ABBA and Led Zeppelin who both had runs of eight consecutive Number 1 albums in the UK.

‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ isn’t just Number (1) this week though, the album has also become the third fastest selling artist album of 2013 with a sales tally of over 143,000.

Meanwhile James Arthur and his self titled debut album currently sits at Number (2) on the Official Albums Chart while Tinie Tempah enters with his second album ‘Demonstration’ which currently sits at Number (3).

Andre Rieu & Johann Strauss Orchestra’s ‘Music Of The Night’ is at Number (4) this week while The Overtones’ ‘Saturday Night At The Movies’ completes the Top 5 this week at Number (5).

Taking a look at new entries this week on the Official Albums Chart Shane Filan, formerly of Westlife fame debuts this week with his solo album ‘You And Me’ which enters the Official Albums Chart at Number (6) this week.

In line with the recent ITV Show, ‘The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Songs’ is new this week at Number (7) while The Wanted enter the Top 10 this week with their third studio album ‘Word of Mouth’.

Avril Lavigne returns to the Official Albums Chart this week with her self titled fifth album which is at Number (14).

‘The Best of Nickelback’ is at Number (15) this week while ‘The Very Best Of Bob Dylan’ is at Number (16). The new entries are completed this week with ‘Antiphon’ by Midlake at Number (39).
