Emmerdale: Amy Wyatt will have her secret baby in December!

by Lynn Connolly

It’s been revealed today that Emmerdale’s troubled teenager Amy Wyatt – who is of course played by Chelsea Halfpenny, who’s the niece of Jill Halfpenny – will give birth in December…

And in time honoured tradition in the run up to Christmas, there could well be a stable involved as the poor girl gives birth to the baby only she and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) know she’s having.

However, Belle was also a December baby, but made her appearance on Christmas Day in 1998, when her mum Lisa (Jane Cox) went out to feed the pigs.

But unlike Amy, Lisa had no idea she was pregnant, but Belle was a welcome addition to the Dingle clan.

Getting back to run up to the birth of Amy’s baby, there has been speculation that it may be she who attacks Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) who is of course the baby’s father…

As fans will know, Amy has told Cain that she aborted the baby in the summer, but by the time she actually decided to do just that, it was too late to go through with the termination.

And in forthcoming episodes, there’s to be a classic whodunit that takes us right through to Christmas when Cain is attacked and left for dead.

Now, you might think it’d be highly unlikely that Amy would – or could – launch an attack of any kind of scary Cain, but that said, fear can make people do things even they had no idea they were capable of…

And given the time of year, perhaps fearing that he’ll go all King Herod on her and the baby’s collective asses, maybe Amy figures the way forward is to bump off Cain?

Well, even if she does, I’m sure she can count on stalwart young friend Belle to keep yet another of her secrets, and given that rumour has it that Belle will deliver Amy’s baby – though that’s entirely unconfirmed – perhaps Amy will do her friend the honour of calling the baby Jingle…

Jingle… Belle… No? Just me then…

Time will of course tell as to whether Amy will be Cain’s attacker, but in the meantime, let’s have a reminder of the moment Amy arrived in the village last year…
