When Emmerdale vet Rhona Kirk (Zoe Henry) hired locum Brett Harrison to help out at the surgery – given that her husband and veterinary partner Paddy is currently banned from working by way of punishment for decking a copper – it seemed that he was too good to be true…
And an exasperated Rhona told Paddy (Dominic Brunt) when his jealousy of good looking Brett (Gideon Turner) came to the fore, “He’s charming, good with our customers and a great vet, so what’s your problem?”
Well, his problem was of course a case of the green-eyed monsters, however, it would appear that Paddy was right to be worried, because in an episode that airs on December 2nd, Brett is going to try to kiss Rhona!
But will she respond to his advances? Well, yes she will, but only to tell him to bog off!
The drama begins after Paddy and his BFF Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) cement their reinvigorated friendship by going on an activity day, however, the day leaves them exhausted, so rather than drive all the way home, they decide to stay the night in a plush hotel and treat themselves to a relaxing spa.
However, knowing full well that Rhona’s busy fort holding at home, Paddy can’t bring himself to tell her he’s treating himself, so instead, he claims that he and Marlon sustained injuries during their day or outdoor pursuits.
But when the lads get back to the village, and Marlon slips up, giving Rhona a different version of events to the one Paddy gave her, she smells a rat and falls out with Paddy, telling him she hates it when he lies to her.
Then later, during a heart to heart with Brett about her marital issues, the sleazy locum tells Rhona, “You deserve better” and moves in for a kiss!
When Rhona immediately rejects his advances, the egotistical Brett tells her to stop denying her feelings for him, implying that he knows Rhona fancies him.
Horrified and angry, Rhona tells Brett to pack his bag and get gone. Of the plotline, a show insider told the Daily Star, “Rhona can’t believe it when Brett makes his move as she really didn’t see that one coming.
“She’s going through a number of problems with Paddy and only sees Brett as a colleague.
“She is mortified and realises she can no longer work with Brett – the last thing she needs is more problems in her life.”
Jeez, poor Rhona! Here’s a reminder of the moment Brett first arrived in the village, with added value humorous bits…
