Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that Moira Barton’s affair with village bad lad Cain Dingle set into motion a chain of events that led to her husband John Barton’s death…
When news of the affair went public last year, Moira was of course vilified in the village, and her own children shunned her for months, refusing even to see her on Christmas Day!
So you’d think perhaps it would be somewhat unwise for Moira (Natalie J Robb) to reopen that can of worms, but on Bonfire night, that’s precisely what she’s going to do when Cain (Jeff Hordley) kisses her, and initially, she can’t help but respond…
However, as the enormity of what she’s doing strikes her, Moira pulls away, disgusted with herself for revisiting her passion with Cain.
But can she stay away? Well, time will tell, but the storyline kicks off when Moira visits Cain to plead for mercy on Chas Dingle’s behalf…
Telling Cain that she can’t understand why he’s turned his back on Chas (Lucy Pargeter) who is of course his sister, Cain tells her to mind her own business, adding that she has no idea how deeply Chas has hurt Debbie (Charley Webb) by having an affair with her boyfriend Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).
And of course, given her own history of family wrecking, his words strike a chord with Moira, and it’s as she relents in her offensive against Cain that he leans in for a kiss.
Of the plot twist, a show insider told the Daily Star, “Moira and Cain’s affair was one of the sexiest the show has ever had but it also led to the breakdown of her marriage to dead husband John.
“Re-visiting anything with him is always going to open old wounds.”
We’ll see the kiss between Cain and Moira a week today.
