Not only has a spoof video of Tinie Tempah’s hit Written in the Stars – as made and performed by some of the cast of Emmerdale – gone viral on YouTube, it also prompted tears from departing star, Danny Miller.
The video, made by Danny’s co-stars Adam Thomas and Kelvin Fletcher – who play Adam Barton and Andy Sugden – was screened at Danny’s leaving do after he’d filmed his final scenes as Aaron Livesy. And Danny was so touched by the effort his co-stars had made, he had a little cry over it. Bless.
Speaking to MEN Media, Danny said of the tribute, and his leaving party, “Obviously I’d been to Emmerdale leaving dos before and I knew they always like to spring surprises.
“I saw them put a TV up, but I honestly had absolutely no idea what they’d been up to…
“They started telling me that they’d spoken to my grilfriend and asked what my favourite song was.
“They played the video and I recognised the music, but I didn’t recognise the start of the video, and then it clicked.
“It was just unbelievable to think that they’d all gone to so much effort to film the whole thing – I didn’t have a clue. And then I couldn’t stop crying!
“I was absolutely amazed by it.”
The video begins with Adam Thomas rapping the start of the hit whilst in a garage, and then cuts to a half naked Kelvin on the keyboards.
Of the video, Danny said, “With Kelvin, when we used to go to the gym together, we’d take the mickey out of him because he’d pop up in the changing room with hardly any clothes on, so I think that was where the joke came from in the video.
“I think the whole video is based around the fact my character is a bit of a chav.
“I’ll never forget it and I can’t believe it’s already had thousands of hits on youtube.”
And finally, of leaving the show, Danny said, “It’s nice to be able to take a break, although I am already missing the guys.
“My last day filming was just a weird feeling, all the crew were clapping and it was really quite emotional. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”
Here’s a reminder of the video…
