Emmerdale: Cast will drink fake booze in tonight’s live show!

by Lynn Connolly

Tonight’s visit to Emmerdale is of course a very special one as it’s going to air live and be filmed entirely on location at the show’s set.

However, in the hour-long episode, though we’ll see the weddings of Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward) and Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) as well as the rushed nuptials of Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) the celebratory champagne we’ll see everyone drinking will be alcohol free!

That’s because the show’s bosses don’t want to risk the actors getting tipsy as they cope with nerves and remembering their lines.

TV Biz report that Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe, said, “I’m a guest at Katie and Declan’s wedding and there’s going to be a marquee stocked with champagne.

“I’d love it to be real booze, but it won’t be. In a live episode there’s no way they are going to give us real booze until after — not a chance.

“But I’m looking forward to having a big drink with the rest of the cast when it’s all over…

“Hopefully everyone will feel proud of what they’ve achieved on the night.”

Let’s hope this ghastly weather eases up before tonight, because otherwise, there are going to be some soggy actors knocking around Yorkshire!

However, as we reported a few weeks ago, though the production team have done their best to make provision for the unpredictability of the weather, if things to awry, the cast have been told to just soldier on regardless.

And of course, there’s to be the murder of a “well loved and major character” tonight, as well as the births of Debbie Dingle and Gennie Walker’s babies.

Don’t forget you can get involved in all the action as it happens tonight via the show’s access all areas webcams, and by following the Emmerdale team on Twitter or Facebook.

I cannot wait for tonight! It’ll be phone off, batteries out of the doorbell and maybe a glass or three of wine.

Are you excited?
