Emmerdale: Charlie Hardwick wants Val to be gay, and Cameron and Chas to have an affair?!

by Lynn Connolly

News from the Emmerdale camp today includes the revelation that Charlie Hardwick would love to see her character, Val Pollard, becoming a lesbian.

Charlie, who’s currently taking three months off from the show to star in stage play, The Awkward Squad, told the PA, “Wouldn’t it be good if Val had a one-night stand with a woman?

“That would definitely put the cat among the pigeons. And knowing Val she’d tell Pollard it’s not really cheating if it’s with a woman.

“I think Val would go for anyone who flashed her the eye.”

Val is of course in Portugal at the moment visiting her son, who is himself gay, so maybe he could take his mum to a gay bar and hook her up there?

I have to agree, it’d be fun to see Val coming back from the hols a gay woman!

However, someone who’s most definitely playing for the straight team is Cameron Murray, but when he finds a shoulder to cry on in the form of Chas Dingle, a spark of sexual chemistry between them could see the Dingle family turned upside down…

The Cameron and Chas storyline begins when Cameron lashes out at pub chef Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) when he makes an off the cuff remark about Debbie’s pregnancy.

But of course, what Marlon doesn’t know, and what Cameron (Dominic Power) found out last week, is that Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) and Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) slept together to conceive the ‘saviour sibling’ that Debbie’s now carrying.

However, after Cameron has a go at Marlon, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) takes Cameron into the back room of the Woolpack to calm him down, but as he pours out his troubles to the sympathetic landlady, they’re both surprised to feel a “spark” between them.

A show insider told the Daily Star, “Chas is thrown when there’s a slight spark of chemistry between them. It’s going to be very interesting to see what develops.”

We’ll see what could be the start of Chas and Cameron’s affair a week on Thursday.
