Emmerdale: Dominic Brunt explains why Paddy Kirk puts his career on the line for Marlon Dingle!

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that former BFFs Paddy Kirk and Marlon Dingle are now enemies – on the face of it at least – after they ended up brawling when Marlon (Mark Charnock) stopped Paddy and his wife Rhona (Zoe Henry) from taking his son Leo to New Zealand…

And as a result of that fight, Paddy was charged in court with affray and had to carry out community service, which of course put a rather large black mark on his record with the licensing authority who oversee the practices of vets in the UK.

But worse yet, part of his punishment saw Paddy’s license to practice being suspended, so he isn’t permitted to carry out any treatment on animals.

However, as Dominic Brunt, who plays Paddy, has revealed to Inside Soap, his character is soon to put his career at risk once again by helping Marlon when his beloved dog Daisy is accidentally run down by Ashley Thomas (John Middleton).

Dominic began by saying, “Paddy is definitely pining for Marlon and wants them to be back where they were…

“He feels like there’s a piece of him missing when his best mate isn’t about. So when Marlon asks him to help Daisy, it tugs at his heartstrings.

“At first he says no, explaining that not only will he lose his job, but Rhona could lose hers as well.

“But then he goes ahead and does it anyway. Paddy throws caution to the wind. He operates on Daisy because he knows how to save her.

“He thinks, ‘It doesn’t matter if I lose my job, because this is for my mate and the dog he loves’.

“In the end, he just wants Marlon back. Those two are like brothers.”

It remains to be seen whether Paddy’s efforts to help Daisy will restore the lads’ friendship, but Mark Charnock recently said that the storyline was about to take “a different direction.”

I hope they do end up being mates again! Here’s a reminder of Paddy and Marlon before their big feud began…
