News from Yorkshire today includes newcomer Gaynor Faye revealing that she’s loving working in her home county, and Lucy Pargeter remarking that she fears her character, Chas Dingle, would be ostracized by the entire village if her affair with Cameron became public knowledge.
Beginning with what Gaynor – whose mum is famous screenwriter Kay Mellor and who of course plays Megan Macey in Emmerdale – has to say to the PA about working in Yorkshire.
She said, “My job has taken me all over the world, so the fact I can see my children [now I’m on Emmerdale] every day is fantastic.
“I wake up in my own bed and go back to my own house in the evening – it’s lovely…
“Actually, it’s more than that. It’s a real luxury!”
On now to what Lucy Pargeter has told Inside Soap about her fears for Chas Dingle, who is of course having an affair with Cameron Murray, (Dominic Power) she said, “I’m not looking forward to when the Dingles find out and make Chas an outsider.
“I don’t want her to be estranged from them – they are her family, after all. Also, I’m terrified of what Debbie will do when she discovers what’s going on.
“Chas is strong, but that’d be a fight and a half.
“Charley Webb who plays Debbie, is formidable – so I’m not looking forward to scrapping with her!
“I’m scared of Charity, too – who’d want to mess with her?
“We’ll just have to laugh our way through those scenes if and when we come to do them.”
And of how the affair plotline will develop in the lead up to the show’s 40th anniversary in October, Lucy said, “There are plenty of twists and turns. Other people might be getting involved with it too.”
We’ll see Chas and Cameron’s affair developing further this week.
