Emmerdale heartthrob Dominic Power tells us Cameron Murray became a killer because of Debbie Dingle and Andy Sugden! (VIDEO)

On Friday, I met with Emmerdale star Dominic Power during a press day at the show’s studios in Leeds, and once I’d stopped drooling and picked my bottom jaw up off the floor – he’s even prettier in real life than he is as Cameron Murray – I managed to talk to him about all things Cameron…

Including why he thinks Cameron has become a murderer, but first, I began by asking if he finds it hard to play the twisted side of Cameron’s persona; the murderous, violent Cameron.

He replied, “That’s the easy part if I’m honest. Playing the big emotions of that kind of stuff is actually a lot easier than just being, with nothing by way of actual drama…

“There are some actors like Sammy Winward [who plays Katie Macey] who are just really good at doing nothing!

“All she has to do is come in and talk about what she bought at the shops and everyone hangs on her every word. She does it brilliantly.

“I find that quite hard because I get a bit self-conscious, whereas if I’m playing some extreme emotion, I find it a lot easier.”

He added, “When I first arrived as Cameron, I don’t think the writers were entirely sure what direction he was going to take, or who he was or where he was going…

“I think the moment the writers got the idea about Cameron having a bit of a side to him was during the period where Andy [Kelvin Fletcher] was around all the time because of the savior sibling storyline…

“He started to stalk Debbie [Charley Webb] a little bit and Cameron had to go round and threaten him…

“I don’t know if you’ve noticed but Kelvin’s arms are about the width of my back, so I thought ‘How am I going to make this look convincing?’

“So I thought, the only way I can do it is to be a little bit psycho, so that’s what I did, and after that, the writers thought ‘He’s got an edge.’

“And in story terms, all of Cameron’s issues date back to the fact that he couldn’t get angry over Andy sleeping with Debbie, because it was to save little Sarah.”

Dominic concluded, “So yeah, that’s when it all kicked off, because Cameron couldn’t get angry and couldn’t explode because it was to save a sick child.

“He just imploded, and then he had an affair with Chas [Lucy Pargeter] and killed Carl and killed Alex…

“Killing dot dot dot…”

We’ll have more from Dominic soon, but for now, here’s a look at the upcoming drama next week…
